Just spent the last three hours in the dark (It's now midnight here). We had a city wide power outage and had no idea what to do with ourselves! It's been about 10 years since I've experienced an outage for so long. Played a board game, had a few drinks and spent 40 minutes trying to find a radio with batteries, to find out what was going on!

All is well now, my computer works again <whew>..just thought I'd share..

Has anyone else been stuck in dark recently?

Chad,

...Had a four-day power outage here the Christmas before last. The computers all run off uninterruptable power supplies, so they were the only appliances in the house which worked. It was weird to cook dinner and heat water in the fireplace like our ancestors, and then go fire up the computer and read e-mail over a satellite link. I could not stay online very long though, because the batteries in the UPS units are only good for a little over an hour if used lightly.

Get some more batteries for your radio, and remember to stock up on plastic sheeting and duct tape per Tom Ridge! ;)

Thanks Jim,

Things just don't seem that bad now. Mind you, my better half noticed that after the first hour of no Internet, I was beginning to shake. ;)
