the search engine used in "the Ring"

it kind off reminds me of... google!

I was watching "the Ring" the other day, and there's a scene in it where Rachel is searching the web for information about Moesko Island.

Just out of "geek-curiosity", I freezed frame and tried to figure out what SE she was using. Well... It says SeattleP-I.com, but the layout seems very "google-ish". Is it in fact google with just another logo?

Anyone else seen the movie? What'd you think of it?

oh and btw, it delivered great results, she found what she was looking for right away.

Errh... which "Ring"? Neither Wagner nor Tolkien dealt with search engines.

Sorry if my roots stick too deep in the past. ;)

Just "The Ring". It's a recent Hollywood remake of a Japanese horror movie.

Didn't see the movie, but being from Seattle I can tell you the Seattle P.I is the newspaper Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

I suppose they would have had a search engine of their own documents or news feeds, but I don't think that paper is actually running anymore. That would have to have been a phoneyed for the movies SE. doesn't mean there wasn't a real SE behind a mockup..

I'll have to see this movie.

The Seattle PI is still around (although on the decline)! View it here: [seattlepi.nwsource.com...]

Is that what it looked like?

Bought the movie this weekend. It is google. It had the same search button as the current seattle PI website but definite Google results and not the ones currently on the site.

That movie phreaked my girlfriend out for a while. I thought it was kinda neat. She told me the movie tale was origionally a japanese movie and that one was a lot worse. So now I wanna watch that one ;) As far as the SE, maybe they payed google to use their site with a new logo on it, you know how hollywood gets their way with the right amount of $$ ;)

I have seen the Japanese version of "The Ring" and didn't like it as much as the remake.

Webconnoisseur,

Thanks for that great link! I haven't been back home for a while, but I could have sworn I saw something about them dismantling the PI globe. Good to see the paper is still going. (We're from Seattle, but moved to Tennessee when the Army suggested we move to Ft. Campbell.)

For the whole room...What the heck does foo mean exactly? It's not in the glossary. Not the general idea, but background on the word maybe?

Well on that note, because I am still a caveman with VHS and pause sucks. Can someone tell me what SE was being used in the movie "Deep Impact" when the girl was looking for E.L.E.?
