I guess 70% of all spam mails I get come from a @yahoo.com account. That is despite being located in Germany.
I really consider blocking any mail from yahoo.com accounts.

Do they really come from Yahoo! or are they just using a fake address from a non-yahoo server?

{curious look}

I know, Incywincy, I use a webmail service myself. It's the only reason why i haven't blocked them yet.
OTOH I can't remember getting any legitimate mail from a yahoo.com account in a long time.

My original question still stands - is the mail actually from a Yahoo! server or are people just faking the e-mail address / mail-server name?

If they were faking *information* you could just apply one of the existing mail filtering packages to handle this junk mail without hurting real Yahoo! mail users.

Tony, I delete them as they come, so I can't really tell. Going to look into it.

Well, some of us have had a @yahoo.com account for five years, if for no other reason than myname@ yahoo.com
is (a) simple for folks to recall and (b) a fitting description of a big ol' yahoo like me 8^)

Every so often, about 3 times a year, I get popped with some bounce backed mail for a 2-3 day period, mail that I dinna originate. I can't stop a spoofer to my knowledge so I quit worrying about the b-backs. Now, these are just filtered to a trash folder. Most spam is as well.

Yahoo catches the bulk of it and stuffs it in the appropriately named bulk folder. The little bit that gets by my filters and the yahoo prefilters is just sent to trash unopened.

Free email is free email. While free ain't always free, yahoo hasn't been a problem for me.

Looks like someone needs a quality spam catcher.
