I've got lots of fresh ammo. Got a central family meeting place deep in the boondocks. Got a few cans of nutrituos canned Spam and some canned veggies, a can opener, a jug of water, kerosene for the backup heater, some antibiotics and a full tank of gas. Oh, and some dust masks.
I really should get a small battery powered radio. Yep, thats next on my list.
Any other suggestions?

A million dollar house in the boondocks - that's my idea of preparation.

I am thinking of adding a tank of 87 octane gasoline.
As for ammo, let's just say this county was the one pushing for concealed weapons law...I am the in the minority with no gunrack in the car (it's hard to fit it in a Volvo).

Kennesaw (Cobb County) Georgia has a law requiring all residents to own a handgun. Are you close?

Yeah, I saw the same report on MSNBC. Pretty silly, really, to give people the impression that they'll be able to effectively seal their homes against a chemical weapons attack by duct taping plastic over the windows! Sheesh.
And then the warnings that "toxic chemicals" could be put into light bulbs? Yeah, technically; but the odds of infiltrating the manufacturing process that way would be pretty slim.
So one report veers from easing people's minds by telling them they might find protection in a way that they certainly will not, to creating fear about threats so unlikely they're not worth more than a passing thought.
Oilman and I can fight them off with hockey sticks and frozen donuts.

You know how the Inuit kids can tell about a dozen different snow types? Well, the local kids can tell about a dozen different gilly suit/cammo versions...

Still have gas masks for the whole family and spare cannisters, now where did I leave those Atropine ampules?
They told us that possible targets include large businesses, hotels, train and bus terminals, department stores, diplomatic missions, restaurants and other gathering places.
Not much else around here except apartment houses. Oops! Those are on the list, too.
Does give you a nice feeling of security seeing the boys in blue with their *big* automatic weapons, but have a sense of unease with the hazmat unit along with the semi-armored vehicles parked down the street.
The better half suggests we pitch a tent on a raft and make house on the river for the duration.

My idea of preparing - if need be - would be to drive to starbuck's, buy a nice, hot double mocha.
And then? Drink it, of course.
The bouncers would search you for knives at the door.
If you didn't have one they'd lend you one for the night.
