Yeah, I'm a geek, I watched the games live, plugged the moves into my chess computer and played along, well sort of. My 100 dollar chess computer seemed to hang in there through the opening and mid-game and only really fell apart twice in end game. It dd quite well in game 4 during the Nimzo Indian moves.

Anyway, Kasparov managed a draw which I think he needed or we would never see him play a machine again.

Yeah, chess is just too simplistic, despite the complicated rules. Doesn't any game become boring once the computer can beat you with it?

That's why I rather play Go [usgo.org]... ;)

Its no longer the case of whether a computer can beat the best chess player.

Its now a matter of whats the cheapest computer you can build that can still beat or draw the best chess player in the world.

In five years, it will be available on your laptop.
