I envision a wireless cloud around my home office, one that allows me to carry a wireless flat panel display, wireless keyboard and wireless mouse out onto my deck when spring arrives.

Alternatively, these components could be wired but connected to a wireless usb hub.

Anyone know if wireless hardware has advanced to this point, where I can leave a powerful desktop CPU sitting in the office but wander elsewhere with a light wireless hardware package that allows all the user I/O. Can't handle a laptop ... the keyboard and display are both too small.

>laptop too small

<.02> I have a wifi card and a 15inch laptop, that works pretty good. I carry it all around the house. I used to have it parked by me in the docking station, but now I leave it in the living room or kitchen most of the time. It is so handy to get out on the deck, or out in the garage and kb around. I don't know how you could get anything more portable or full featured that one of the newer laptops. Most of them are available with 15inch screens.</.02>

Were you thinking of the Viewsonic Smart Displays? I think that combined with a wireless keyboard and mouse would fit your purposes but I'm hearing mixed reviews on the displays so far.
