so far we have:
Software:
flash fxp
macromedia mx suite
PPC software
website memberships:
webmasterworld
wordtracker
then i added these just because i have always wanted them and could actually argue the need:
laptop
pda
also including the prices on the add url's for all the major search engines.
I am not 100% sure what else i need. I would rather have the budget be high, and have to take things off, rather then run out of funds early into the year.
If there is any software/hardware/services that you think i need(or would want) please let me know.
thanks

2. Yahoo and Inktomi spends (pad a little since you don't know what they plan to do since the Inktomi buy.)
3. Logfile management software
4. A database in which to keep extended metrics records. You want extended metrics to look for patterns to learn about your consumers.
5. If your site does not have a site search that allows you to collect all the searches made on it. That is *golden* information.
Marketing is typically the *first* thing management will cut when times are tight.
Therefore, you want to be able to account for every dime you spend and show management that SEM is something they want to continue to spend money on...even when spending gets tight.
And the more metrics numbers you have, the easier it is to manipulate them to your advantage.
You want:
--At least 6 months of raw data to look at from your log files in case you need to research it later.
--All of your summarized web site data including: # of external referring visits to the site for each week and month broken down into visits from search sites, any partner sites, offline advertising (if possible) and any other large refers.
--With the visits from search sites, you want to know what terms people typed into those sites to arrive at your site. This will tell you how people are finding you.
--All of the data from your site search for each week or month including the search terms people typed in and how many times those terms were searched upon.
--You to look at all of the summerized data from your log files, marketing spends for each week, month and year so you can look for trends. (You might notice, for example, that traffic falls around certain holidays.)
--You want to keep all of your PPC records over the entire period of time of your spend.
The more metrics you have, the more information you have about the visitors to your site, and the quicker you can give those visitors what they demand and make money from them.
