Cricket fever starts in around 40 days from now. Where are you putting your money this time?

My Emotional Favorite - India
My Logical Favorite - Australia

My humble opinions -

Australia -> Currently on a roll and is probably the most consistent team around.

South Africa -> They have the advantage of playing on their home turf and that could turn out to be disadvantageous too. I think they will reach the semis and choke to death (as usual).

India -> Currently ranked No.3 in ESPN Cricket ratings. Has the best batting line-up (on paper). If they survive the NewZealand tour, they will be a force to reckon with.

England -> Hee Hee Haw Haw! I wonder if players are allowed to bring their crutches and wheelchairs to the playground.

Pakistan -> Not the same class as the old Imran Khan's team. Very inconsistent.

New Zealand/West Indies/Sri Lanka -> The dark horses that could spring a surprise or two.

England -> Hee Hee Haw Haw!

Yes, quite, very droll!

Mind you the UK Government might save them the embarrassment and ban the Zimbabwe matches.

Australia should win but if Warne isn't fit we may struggle.

Yeah my money is on Aussie with South Africa a close second.

India and Pakistan will struggle with the bouncy pitches.

If anyone is going to knock Aussie out it will most likely be us (New Zealand) as we always seem to play above ourself when we play our cousins across the drink and we don't have the psychological problems of being thrashed by them as England, Sri Lanka and other countries have over the last few years.

Is Cairns playing? I hear he is fit enough to bat. That should prop up the NZ team.

Hey.. But don't read too much into the current India-NZ series. India is a great confidence-booster for the opposing teams. That's actually their World Cup Strategy to put the opposing teams into a false sense of security. :)

A bias Australain vote here.

I do hope it's an Aus Vs SA final though, thats always a good match to watch. Remember the semifinal of the last world cup? My fingernails are still growing back.

Yeah Cairns should be fit. It's a shame that Geoff Allott and Dion Nash had to retire due to injuries. With Allott (MVP last world cup) and Shane Bond (ODI ave 20.10, 3rd fastest bowler in the world?) opening the bowling and Nash and Cairns as 3rd and 4th seamers I would have put my money on us.

What a match, Lance Klusener rocks.

I agree the above would be a good final, as Pakistan will probably gamble their game away as usual.

Canada... (yeah, I thought it was funny too) So they don't have a snowball's chance in hell, even if it's thrown by a fast bowler.

My money would be on Australia, or India. I'd like the Windes to show up, but that's highly doubtful.

I think the Oakland Raiders are looking good. But, wow, those Jets are impressive. Love that Chad Pennington (great football name, don't cha think).

Oooopps.... wrong sport.

Hey Hinkley, Welcome to WebmasterWorld!

Yeah.. I think Canada has pretty good chance of winning the world cup. However they gotta beat Oakland Raiders and Jets if they want to be in the reckoning ;)

Now seriously, its only 25 days to the World cup. Any idea where South Africa is with respect to time zones? I bet I need to wake up at 3:00 AM to catch a match.

Australia and South Africa are the my logical favourites.
Emotionally, I would love to see the Kiwi's have a good world cup, and I suppose England as well, as they need a bit of a lift after the Ashes series

Does anyone need to stress how much of a disaster Ashes was. If England show up, it's out of obligation, and nothing more at this point. I'll be pulling for them, but their chances fare not much better than Canada's.

South Africa is 7 hrs ahead of EST., as someone asked.

I hope some of the games are broadcasted up here.

And, thanks for having me.

Mark
