Alaska's More Important Laws

In Fairbanks it is considered an offense to feed alcoholic beverages to a moose.

While it is legal to shoot bears, waking a sleeping bear for the purpose of taking a photograph is prohibited.

It is considered an offense to push a live moose out of a moving airplane.

One more question : Since you started home brewing, what kind of meat is on the menu?

I wonder what they do to people who push a moose out of an airplane, which in turn falls directly into a vat of grain alcohol, thus waking the bear sleeping adjacent the vat.

O.o

I can't figure out which is worse:

The fact that there IS a law like that on the books OR that the law was NEEDED. :)

(Note to self: Take the time to make sure the Moose is dead.)

Before or after you push it out of the airplane?

I'd check after.........if I were the moose, I'd be pretty pissed you just pushed me out of an airplane.

Moose are BIG... I certainly wouldn't want to see one wandering around drunk. If it decided to get belligerent you'd have to call in the National Guard. hehehehe.

Elk, common in sparsely populated Sweden, are normally shy creatures but they can become aggressive when they eat rotten apples, a favorite winter snack that can make them drunk.

"It has been noticed that elephants have developed a taste for rice beer and local liquor and they always look for it when they invade villages," an elephant expert in Guwahati told Reuters news agency.

Not much for fruit trees in this climate... and all the brewing "scraps" that we toss outside are frozen before they get a chance to ferment, so I think we're OK on the drunk moose front.

...but that's a case in point why you should not feed alcohol to large animals. hehehe.

I don't know Jon, elephants seem like they might make better company than a lot of humans... at least when they're not drunk, hehe.

Ove: i would not drink any beers with the moose around here anymore

Probably best. With small children around, the last thing you need is an angry moose pushing the kids around in the back yard asking where the beer is!

Up until very recently, garden centres in the UK were allowed to sell plants, but not compost, spades etc on a Sunday, the reason being that if you bought a plant you would look at it, but if you bought compost or a spade it implied that you would be working the Holy Day.

:)
