Hi all,

Once you get past about 27/28 the dreaded nasal hair starts to become an issue for most men.

Although not excessive ;) Every few months, for me, something has to be done. There's nothing more unattractive than nose and ear hair!

As I sit here, eyes watering, tweesers in hand, I'm wondering if there is a better way?

So has anyone tried nose hair trimmers? Will anyone admit to trying them...

Tried those lousy rotary trimmers, didn't care for them. Now I just yank 'em out. If they extend beyond the end of the nostril, you're outta here.

hey nick, just think of it as increased hormone levels!

two methods here.

first, mrs topr8 in the time honoured way of all women, likes ...

rather, i might say ... takes a positive pleasure! in squeezing the occasional spot when it appears on my face and also loves to grab the tweezers and have a tug at nasal hairs too.

second in order to pre-emp the above i've found that occasionally squashing the three headed philishave up against the nostrils readily removes any unsightly nasal growth before it gets going.

so i've not had a use for a specific, custom built nasal trimmer...

they do shout old and uncool to me though, so i'd be careful if you were planning to recommend one on your boys toys site! might loose you a bit of funky credibility.

I agree....a pluck once in a while is the best bet. Hopefully after a few years of plucking they weaken and come out easier! :)

Hmm im a bit concerned about the ear hair though! I wouldnt know how to tackle that!?
Unless your missus says something you may not find them until its too late and all your friends have seen it before you.......oh the horror

Nick,

Trimmers are the way to go.

a bit ticklish though

(and, NO, I do not think this post will beat the Electric Shavers with the amount of replies)

I know somebody who owns one.

He went on a bizarre search to find it - Google found a MSN link (freaky I know) which lead to littlewoods.com (UK) where he bought one for under 10.

He said that is wasn't very good at cutting the little hairs and he only uses it every now and then! :)

My brother said he got one from Sharper Image that works great. My wife asked if she should put that on the list for my daughters to get me.

I told her "Can you imagine my response to someone who asks what I got for Christmas: 'Gee, I got this nifty nose hair trimmer!'"

The nose hair trimmer never made the list.

"the time honoured way of all women"? Egads! I can think of about a million things I would rather do than pick someone's face or pull their nose hairs. ::shudder:: EWW! My boyfriend seems quite capable of pulling out his own nose hairs, thankyouverymuch.

(Nick... it seems that tweezers or those tiny round-tipped scissors are most effective, from an observer's standpoint.)

Round tipped scissors should do the trick, or little scissors like those on a Swiss Army knife. Just be careful not to cut out more than the hair.

Get a bit older and you will start worrying about hairs in your ears as well :)

i am 24 and have to trim)c:

i use the round tipped scissors.

i was totally thinking of getting the rotary type.

i think i saw an interchangable beard/moustache trimmer that the head popped off on and in pops the nose/ear hair trimmer.

..Get a bit older and you will start worrying about hairs in your ears as well<<

That's what electric razors are good for. On the Norelco I have there's what they call a pop-up trimmer (works with or w/o javascript) that I use to get the big fuzz... Then I get rid of the residual stuff with the regular shaver.

Couldn't get the pop-up trimmer to work on nose hair, though. So far, I've lucked out with scissors and a steady hand. I've always wondered with those tubular rotary trimmers whether they end up yanking out hairs, or whether they trim gently. Tweezers!?

Hmm.

Shaving with a blade? Sexy!
Trimming your nose hairs? Keep the bathroom door closed, 'kay? And don't forget to wipe up.

For those with other halves, why not experiment with an epilator, this may cause you to make some rather amusing noises. I havent tried this, mainly because i dont have any nasal hair, but none the less it is certainly a viable suggestion and would be a real test of your pain threshhold. :)

I read somewhere that in Turkey the barbers _burn_ the nose hair away!

I just cut my own nose hair with a pair of scissors originally designed for haircut that I use for trimming my beard.

In Turkey they burn/singe the Hairs in your ears.

You can imagine the look on my face at a barbers in Northern Cyprus, when after a shave, he pulls out a lighter and proceeds to do this. :)

Sounds truly terrifying but, I've heard of that too...
