I've always like the gameplay better on Nintendo systems. I kept my 64 system just so I could play Perfect Dark, which may very well be the best FPS ever made, and of course, it is coming out for the 'Cube. Mario Sunshine may have a kiddy element to it, but the game itself is great. Fantastic graphics, smooth play and intuitive game control. StarFox is already the Sunday afternoon game of choice for the family, when we're not shooting at each other on Perfect Dark. :)
I just beat eternal darkness and that also was pretty good. I also like that the cube gets a lot of games rolling out. Plus it just seems solid. The xbox was not. The price is also pretty good. I am waiting for the dsl modem to be released to start playing online. The size is a plus too. The xbox is huge. The gamecube is small and can be stashed away easily.
<added>girlfriend (now ex) bought it for me last christmas and regretted it almost instantly. I belive "what have I done" was uttered soon after I opened it and disappeared into gaming mode for a short session (5hrs or so). :)
