Is it only in the UK, that the traditional lunch is Fish n Chips?

Just curious, and yes, before you ask, we had some.

I prefer "Plaice" to Cod though.

Getting hungry just because people write about fish? What would you say if they had spoken about a nice, juicy, T-bone steak? ;)

Its the kebab that done it, the thought of abit of meat, killed, roasted and then what ever else they found on the floor slapped on it to give at abit of flavour being served up to me.... makes me hungry :)

I was Born in Edinburgh, and get the chance to visit every couple of years, and one of the first things I do once I arrive is head out for a fish supper. Jeez, I was they could do fish n' chips in Canada like that.

A Doner Kebab is made from old body parts that no-one wanted, kindly handed over to the local Kebab Shop. Hence the name Doner Kebab.

Speaking of tarter sauce, I know up in the Northwest US where I live many people (myself included) love tarter sauce on french fries. I know some places in Europe use mayo on fries. When I have gone to other parts of the US (Cali and AZ in particular) nobody else does the tarter and fries thing. Anybody else around the country like tarter and fries or does the thought of it repulse you?

BTW, I think I will go for some fish and chips for lunch. That sounds good.

Mmmm....fish and chips. We have a restaraunt here in Minnesota (US) that serves great fish and chips, if you can believe that! It's an English-style pub called Sherlock's Home.

They also serve cask-conditioned ale, aged in wooden barrels and forced out by hand pumping. Good stuff:)

No real traditional lunch here in the US.

I can think of one, at least here in Minnesota. Almost every restaurant serves clam chowder on Fridays.
