Just saw a fairly good feature story about Google and search on the PBS "News Hour," starting roughly 20-minutes into the show. It was a surprisingly good overview for the general public... introduced the idea of algorithms... and it had nothing that would make one scream in protest. With video views of the GooglePlex in full color. You can still catch it this evening on the west coast.
