I just though id have a rant!
Background:
Me - running a free info and advice site on my own in my spare time (well, at work ;)). I (along with a few others) give out (widget) advice to people.
Competition - Multinational company (widget sales). Dozens of domains (mainly duplicate content!). Partnered with other multinational companies. Who all share this duplicate content! Recently banned me from their site. I broke a few rules. Repeatedly. Rules involving posing my URL (of my site that is now 14 days old), ;) but hey, they should do more with their resources to help their users (IMHO).
So I was just thinking that my site will (in a matter of months) knock the money making giant off the no 1 spot cos I have plenty of decent content (and keep adding to it, and frequent this forum a lot!).
Is there anyone else out revelling in the deep satisfaction of beating a large corporation to the number one spot, when they have legions of staff and seemingly inifinite resources, but just dont have a clue about developing a top notch site? I am. :)
Thats whats great about the web! ;)
Just my rant!

VIVA LA LITTLE GUY!
Another great thing you can do on the web is call that site you run from your sitting room a business :)
Go on admit it...how many of you who run a site on your own say something like "we will reply to your email as soon as possible"... the "we" making your site seam just that little bit bigger :)
Im also in the process of preparing a mock online survey (the competitions doing it so im going to do a more, shall we say, tounge in cheek version)...
BTW, the reason i posted in the first place (i lose all track of thought when i go into a rant!) - could someone tell me how i get a second page to open when someone arrives at my homepage? Also, id like a third page to open when the second is closed. Could someone point me in the right direction?
Cheers
JOAT

We should totally sign him up for, i dunno, something funny. Like beginners guides to word, access, and excel. Im sure he'd appreciate the humour in someone emailing him junk mail for office application training. :)
If i hadnt posted that suggestion on a public forum, id be off right now doing it! DOH!
But hey...it makes Monday just that little bit more tolerable :)
