This question is almost cute.

"When will you support .net domains?"

I had to laugh, I created a cart system that requires the user to support ASP or PHP on their server for them to use the system on their web site. I had in the "Requirements" that a .NET version would be available soon, then I get an email from a woman that said she would love to use the software but her domain was www.xyz.net and she was wondering when we would be supporting .net domains.

At first I want to reply saying, "You're an idiot, .NET is a scripting language not a domain extension!" but then I realized this is just some inocent person trying to understand how my site works. Then, I thought the email was cute, and I can't help but hope she signs up to use the system.

I love running websites, it's so entertaining!

Sheesh, that whole .net thing confused me for months. I personally don't think it's that great of a name. Too confusing, especially since ASP.NET's site is [asp.net...] so I thought that ASP.NET hosting services were hosted by asp.net and ... ugh... it was a nightmare.

Me neither ... and is it even necessary for programmers to use, or is it just a layer of bloat that goes on top of Windows? I have lots of really nice applications that do just fine without .net.

There are networks of all kinds all around us today. Guess this is just a good example of how confusing things can get.

Easy way to pick up a new client. Politely tell her to let her hirer an 'expert' (you or someone who gives you a kickback).
