Mind you, I probably DO look pretty silly to most folks in this little town, with a turban on my head and my drum swinging from my side, but that isn't the point ;) I was walking along the road, and crossing at an intersection. A fellow in a car at the corner yells out, 'Do you need a ride?'
No Thanks, I'm in no hurry.
So he nods an acknowledgement, then reaches into the back seat. Apparently from a cooler in the back, he hauls out a bottle of beer and waves it in my direction.
Again, no thanks.
Now really, do I look so stupid as to consider getting in a car with a stranger who is driving around drinking beer?
I hope not. Maybe I'm being too harsh. He was, after all, just trying to be nice.
I might have taken the cold beer offer up, maybe made a new friend.
I remember 'way back in the 1960s' (good song title there, but used by The Incredible String Band) I often got strange looks from people at bus stops as I walked by (what's odd about wearing an edwardian frock coat?). Odd thing is most of those who gave the odd looks were elderly people dressed in (rather drab) post war clothes.
Who was the strange one, I wonder?
