Congratulations Finland!
I do wish they'd sort out the voting system, though.
What are the two biggest ethnic minority populations in Moldova? Well you could probably guess from the way the Moldovan public gave 12 points to Romania and 10 to Russia.
And the biggest ethnic minority in France (after the Maghrebins who aren't yet eligible to take part in the contest)? Step forward and claim your 12 points, Turkey.
Germany? Turkey again of course!
Belarus, Ukraine, Armenia? All voting for Russia!
Actually there are significant Russian ex-pat populations in so many countries, I can't see that Russia will ever be out of the top five - no matter how bad the song - for as long as the results are based 100% on the public vote.
Surely the rule where you can't vote for your home country isn't much use when you don't actually live and work in your home country (... and can therefore vote for it)?!
The UK's entry came 19th - yes it was bad, but we should have come a bit higher than that!It was abysmal and should have had no points; it was not even a song; it was rap. This is a song contest not a performance contest. I was ashamed to be British.
However I'm still not sure what the rules are on who can enter the compeition.
I had assummed that only new/relatively new acts could enter it, but apparently Lordi are very established in their home country and have had several albums.
Does this mean that the UK could have put forward bands like Coldplay, Franz Ferdinand, Keane, etc?
If so we should have been putting forward one of the numerous and successfull bands doing the rounds at the moment, or one of the upcoming bands - not some rapper.
