The Airbus A380, the world's biggest passenger jet, has landed at London's Heathrow Airport for the first time.
Making its UK debut after a flight from Berlin, the giant twin-deck plane had earlier flown over the two UK Airbus sites that designed and made its wings.

There's a video there on that page. When I saw it, I thought that the thing was flying so slowly. It's not, it is simply huge. It will take a maximum of 840 passengers! It would take you about a week to get on and off the thing.

I can't help feeling these will be a major target for terrorists wishing to cause the maximum casualties from one attack.

840 passengers

&*£$!

I'm really dissappointed that we're getting bigger as opposed to faster though. I appreciate the need to make air travel affordable, and that means more bums on seats, but in terms of long-haul I just want to get there quickly.

I dunno. I remember flying on 747s in the early to mid 80's and they seemed quite comfortable enough. I don't think a double-decker is quite necessary.

Have they made the seats on this new plane bigger for the ever-expanding American derriere? ( I can say that because a) I'm an American and b) I have an ever-expanding derriere. :) )
