Does anybody know the maker and brand of the orange sport car featured on M:I:III?
I'd like to see pictures of that beauty :)

I think it was a Lamborghini Murcielago Coupe.

A beautiful car, I prefer it in Nova Ocean Blue, but, if Atlas Orange is your thing, go for it....at $290K you need to be happy ;)

After some research I think it is a Lamborghini Gallardo, isn't it?
Well, both models look a bit similar.
I found other places saying it is a Lamborhini Diablo <sigh>

Well there ya go...the MI-III people were obviously on a tight budget....lol ;)

The Gallardo is the little sister of the Murcielago, it appears Lamborghini didn't want to anti-up as much as I thought!

I guess the Gallardo is more affordable to an average American, same reason Bond never got to drive the best Aston's!

I'll still choose one of many Porsches or Aston's over it though :)

Prices starts at $175,000. I must be a below-average American. Well, maybe not. I could get rid of my wife and kid, move into a smaller house, stop cable service, cancel the newpaper, cut back on heating and air conditioning, use razor blades longer, find some way to write off the Gallardo as a business expense . . .

Not sure why anyone needs a car that can go 120 mph over the legal speed limit.

I'll answer my own question.
I'd bet any car like that gets ROTTEN fuel mileage.

With $3 gas in the USA, twice or 3 times that price elsewhere,
cars like these are obviously toys for kids with more money than brains.

I think very very few people buy a Lamborghini for the machine itself.
How many would do so if they couldn't show it off? And therein lies the irony ..

Imagine spending 6-figures for a Lamborghini, just to impress people,
and the impression is that you are an idiot! -Larry

Larry, you underestimate the psyche of the true car lover. I'm sure more than one car lover would buy a car like that just to be able to appreciate form and function at their leisure. Driving it would be a treat reserved for good weather and special occasions.

If you go to enough car shows you'll find that it's about sharing the perfect ride with others, not showing off for the crowd. Sure, some do, but it is my experience that it is about appreciation for a thing of beauty. Steel and fire and chrome. The rumble of exhaust and the adrenaline that comes from acceleration and speed.

The best way to enjoy a beautiful car is on an empty, winding road. No need to be seen, just a need for speed and the appreciation of a fine set of wheels.

"After some research I think it is a Lamborghini Gallardo"

Correct as the doors open sideways ( normal). The murg they open upwards which is just way cooler than the gallardo.

As a car guy, I can say these cars are very cool and do 0-60 in about 4 secs and the curb factor is waaay up there. A lot of people think you look like a prize idiot in a car like this but they are not car people. Of course there is the show off element but if you have never driven cars like these you would know what it is to drive a fantastic car.

BTW if you buy a car like this you do not care about the fuel or insurance because you got cash anyway.

I can't believe someone posted about fuel economy. Especially from the USA :D

That isn't the idea Larry.

For every 9 guys who think you are an idiot there is a bimbo who doesn't. That makes pretty good odds if you aren't interested in conversation with guys.

101% correct :) You buy this type of car because every time you sit behind the wheel it will put a smile on your face, regardless of the cards life may have dealt you on that day! The smile occurs before you even reverse it out of the garage :)

It is almost like a drug, a "happy pill" if you like. If you feel good, you feel great behind the wheel, if you feel down, you feel good behind the wheel.

You don't buy this type of car if you care about money or the price of gas! These cars are very fuel efficient compared to the boats that do 1/10th of a mile per gallon that most of their owners also have as toys :)

Imagine spending 6-figures for a Lamborghini, just to impress people,

The print version of the Los Angeles Times (yes, some people actually *DO* read print versions of newspapers :) ) had an article about a guy who put a huge sky light into his house so he could fit his Lamborghini through it and mount it on the wall as art. (I won't post the link, but go to the L.A> Times web site and do a search for "lamborghini") Unfortunately, the online article doesn't have a picture of the car being craned into the house.

Just think, if you could generate about $4500/month from your site your could afford to finance that car over a 4 year period. That's just $150/day!

Perhaps the MI3 people have a moderately successful website.

>percentages, what car do you drive

My everyday workhorse is a C6 Corvette (actually my wife's car), she waited 8 months for it to be delivered, but, she likes to share ;).

We live in the Florida countryside, speeding is not an issue, while out of towns. For pure driving fun I love my 05 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet.

I'd love a new Porsche Carrera GT, but, they are a little pricey, and have a long wait list. Impatience has always been my enemy....sometimes getting on the list is the best solution!

Dang Lawman, what are you trying to do to me?

I've tried every possible combination of that site link and can't get to the site. Maybe it just went down?

It looks like the posted address is correct. I'll try it again later ;)

Hmm - that's a little pricier than the Carrera by a factor of 3 :)

I'll stick with the Lambo I think. It beat the GT on the track anyhow.

Crush, I use the same nick on all sites except for Poker!

I personally wouldn't trade a 2004 Carrera 4 for anything, other than a 2006! Even then, I would ask if I could afford to own both?

Each to his own, but, IMHO trading a Porsche for a Lambo is madness.

We all love cars for a resaon. I've never found enough straight road to max mine out, had to hit the breaks at 165), but, in the USA I can find corners that are fun :)

Taking a tight corner at 100+ is just as good as good as a 170+ staight run IMHO. I did 160+ on the M1 in the UK, a little over 180 on the AutoBarn outside of Munich......neither compares now to tight corners :)

That's more than enough for a lengthy jail sentence here - I stopped doing silly speeds a long time ago when a colleague of mine got stopped at 140 on his motorbike...

Silly!? Sounds like a darn serious maneuver to me. Wouldn't try it in my car because 1) don't think mine would handle it even on a good day; and 2) I'm chicken. :)

And 3) Because a DUI lawyer would look pretty dumb without a driving license :)
