My pick- (with caveat) If De La Hoya makes it through the first three rounds, he'll knock Mayorga out in the tenth.
Mayorga / Trinidad was an excellent fight that showcased Trinidad's power and Mayorga's chin. I just don't know that De La Hoya has the power to knockout Mayorga early, or with a single punch, so if De La Hoya knocks Mayorga out, it will be because of accuracy and cumalative damage.
Enough to shut Mayorga up. And in true Mayorga-style he refused to give an interview after the bout.
De La Hoya shut me up as well. I was beginning to question his desire, and his power. While it was a TKO and Oscar didn't knock him out in one punch, he certainly showed that he hits hard and that he still likes to stand and swing. Mayorga has a good chin. In that particular bout, boxer versus brawler, De La Hoya made the brawler look bad, real bad.
De Le Hoya knocking Mayorga down in the first round was surprising, and I think it changed the entire fight for Mayorga.

Added Later: I guess Mayorga did eat some humble pie as I take this quote from another article from the same website:
"You are a great champion," Mayorga said to De La Hoya. "You are a great fighter. I apologize for everything I said to you."
"I forgive you," De La Hoya replied.
Then there's the upcoming Hatton v. Luis Collazo fight...
And maybe a Hatton v. De La Hoya fight...
Gosh, no more predictions for me. I was convinced that a street-fighter/thug like Mayorga would be able to stomp on a classic finess boxer like De La Hoya, especially since he'd already shot his mouth off so much.
De La Hoya seemed to be a man possessed in this fight. Did you notice how at the bell ending the first round, De La Hoya didn't immediately go to his corner, rather he just stood there staring-down Mayorga as HE turned and went to his corner.
I thought that way about De La Hoya too until I saw him fight Vargas. There's quite a bit of 'street' in De La Hoya. Which would make the Mayweather Jr. bout interesting. Two great boxers, both heavy hitters, both trained by the same guy, Floyd Mayweather Sr. Both of them fight quite well against brawlers. Oscar would give up a few years in age.
I'm more interested in seeing a Hatton v. De La Hoya fight though after Hatton's performance against Kostya Tszyu.
These guys must go thru a lot of money in their personal lives. If I was worth $xx million+, I'm not sure I'd want to keep climbing in the ring year after year and run the risk of getting my bell rung. Once you get up to the level these guys are at, anyone you fight is capable of driving one shot clear thru your head.
One on-target punch and boom, you no longer can remember your senior prom.
