Does 'foreign' exist any more?

in the age of the web.

Over heard a conversation today in a supermarket between two ordinary housewives, both were discussing what they had recently bought on the web.

After saying I bought X, theyd finish by say it was from a site based in XYZ country.

After around 10 minutes I heard them mention several countrys far far away from here and, obviously, neither thought it out of the ordinary to buy from a strange land, or from someone they will never speak with.

Struck me the world has changed rapidly over the last ten years due to the web, breaking down barriers - just maybe.

Hi Essex_Boy,

Yes, I hope you're right! Xenophobia, protectionism (and hatred of garlic) was always ugly; maybe it is being seen as such by more people these days. <snip>
