Looks like an industrial food/meat/grain grinder of some sort...
Conveyor belt dispenser...

It does handle food "stuff", yes.
Not a grinder.

A robot dinosaur?
DrDoc

You are right! It is a robot dinosaur ... from Jupiter! ;)
No, not a robot dinosaur

A wood chipper would be too easy...
But it looks like, ahhh, ummmm... a wood chipper.
DrDoc

No wood chipping involved (I think).

french fry cutter...
For a really, really, really busy Mcdonalds?
DrDoc

heh
Not a french fry cutter ;)
akmac

But it does provide a cutting action...?
Can you ttell ust if it slices, dices or Juliennes(sp)?
grandpa

OK, so it handles food 'stuff'. The stuff could be the waste product from the food. Or... maybe this is a corn husker or a bean sorter.
DrDoc
5:15 pm on Apr 3, 2006 (gmt 0)
I cannot tell you its exact function, as that would make it way too easy ;) The "industrial food something" is at least in the right direction.
Not a corn husker or bean sorter ...
And <hint> it deals with pre-waste food ;)
grandpa

Does it take some sort of food product 'IN', and produce something else 'OUT', something which is not necessarily edible?
akmac
5:17 pm on Apr 3, 2006 (gmt 0)
Pasta machine?
DrDoc
5:17 pm on Apr 3, 2006 (gmt 0)
Tricky to answer ... Yes, it takes some sort of food in ... and then produces something else. I guess it just depends on what you mean by "something else". Could easily lead you down the wrong track, depending on what you mean.
DrDoc

Not a pasta machine

SPAM!
Ok, maybe not. Can you give us an indication of what type of food? Plant or animal?
grandpa

I'm thinking this thing produces pellets, or peanuts. What I have in mind is cornstarch IN, packing peanuts OUT.
DrDoc
5:22 pm on Apr 3, 2006 (gmt 0)
Definitely plant food.
And, as I feared ... wrong path, grandpa ;)
akmac
5:23 pm on Apr 3, 2006 (gmt 0)
Does it product food FOR plants, or FROM plants?
Maybe the machine that grinds out those cute baby carrots?
DrDoc
5:25 pm on Apr 3, 2006 (gmt 0)
"From" plant food ... or rather "with" the same ;)
akmac

Tofu?
Is it a soy/tofy maker? Maybe not if it doesn't grind...
DrDoc
5:27 pm on Apr 3, 2006 (gmt 0)
Not tofu.
Think food pre-processing.

DrDoc

Besides, the answer needs to contain not only what this gizmo does to the food, but to which food it performs its design action ;)
DrDoc
5:30 pm on Apr 3, 2006 (gmt 0)
No, I'd say the food will remain fit for human consumption.
akmac

Ok, can you tell us fruit or vegetable-or neither?
