That's a big bass! Or as we say in Alaska-that Bait should catch a pretty good size fish!

Actually-that fish is huge by most all standards. Can you eat them?

The men believe this is the same fish that Dickerson caught almost three years ago, and which was also caught by another fisherman as a 20-pounder in 2001. They said the fish has the same identifying black dot under its right gill plate.

Monster, yes. But doesn't seem to be the sharpest tack in the pond.

Not sure how one that size would taste but normal 2-5 lb. bass are some of the best fish around. Delicious white meat normally fried filets.

I guess there are some monsters that come out of the Mekong river-all different species. Here's a catfish that blew my mind:

mekong has some enormous catfish, all full of heavy metals and chemicals. They also export a lot of the meat to Oz where it gets repackaged and sold as Basa and some other names. Bad news for those who don't know what they are eating (if you live on it I guess), and the standarisation of fish species naming for human consumption. Scary.

Yes you can eat them. They're pretty good and usually the small ones are better for eating. I grew up in Louisiana where even if you don't fish you know about fishing for bass. Big time sporting fish here.

Here too, but it's all Salmon and Halibut. I have a hard time eating anything else-I guess I'm spoiled. Just had some fresh winter king salmon yesterday. From the boat to the barbecue -yum!
