When I was initially accepted into AdSense in early July, I entered the websites of our primary affiliates into the AdSense URL filter. Subsequent to that, I would add URLs when I would see ads for a few competitors as well as ads that were totally mistargeted for my website.

In early September, I decided to remove our two largest affiliates from the filter just to see if it would impact our AdSense earnings. It had an almost immediate impact, so much so that the additional AdSense earnings were more than our affiliate earnings from those two merchants.

I just went to add a URL to the filter after not having been to the filter list at all in weeks and I was totally shocked to see those two merchants once again appearing on my filter list. I know that I saw their ads on my site as recently as last week.

My earnings have been down significantly over the past few days (most notably beginning on 10/31). As I've commented on other posts, we are experiencing a huge percentage of mistargeted ads (fortunately, no PSAs) that I have communicated to Google, so that is accounting for some of the reduction in earnings, but based on the impact on earnings that we saw when we unfiltered these two websites in early September, the fact that they somehow got back onto our filter list about 4 days ago certainly accounts for part of the loss of revenue.

I checked, and none of the removed domains has crept back in. But thanks for the warning. I'll keep an eye on that filter list.
