I started another website about something completely different, hoping to diversify my ad base.
But ever since I launced this second site, I'm noticing a drop in earnings per thousand & earnings per day.
Do you think these two things are related?
As far as it seems from my view point
Somebody created by a strange trick a maximal smart pricing deprecation for his site.
He put his code on a good runing AdSense site from somebody else.
The created bad smart pricing situation on his own site was also on the other site.
My own main income is one domain with several thematic different sub domains. Works great!
So You have only to see, that each topic has a good quality.
It may be that what you are seeing has little to do with the new site, but is just a normal unexplained blip/dip.
I guess the way to test it would be to remove the ads from the new site and see what the change is. I did a bit of experimenting recently to see what effect altering pages on the rest of the site had on my main banner, and found that there was no obvious trend.
I'd certainly be using a channel for each banner, and be analysing the results closely. I'd also be removing banners that don't work.
I am writing about various topics but my focus is on widgets, and I expected to see this influence my other topics, that are completely non-widget. It's just at first that AS needs a bit of time to adjust the targetting, but after a while it's right on the spot.
As to the payouts, I cannot comment as I never bothered to use the channel feature (as most of the traffic and ads are widget related anyway).
Ah - but as soon as you are writing about different widgets, you enter a different market. Different advertisers are competing over different terms. Surely this can influence the whole Adsense behaviour.
