Google to pay $20 million a year to About.com

A friend called my attention to a NEW YORK POST article that may be of interest to AdSense publishers and advertisers:

[nypost.com...]

The story is about the financial troubles of Primedia (the magazine publisher that owns About.com), but it quotes company sources as saying that Google will pay About.com $20 million a year for the next three or four years under the "advertising pact" between the two companies.

If the story is correct, it would appear that Google strongly believes there's a lot of money to be made with "content ads."

... or Primedia hopes to make big bucks with Adsense?

Internet directory About.com may also be put on the block.

That can only be good for them. Multifocused conglomerates seem not to be doing well lately. Looks like Google may be paying wholesale for space (20 million) then reselling it through AdWords.

I like it. I've received some good branding. There's great traffic in About.
