Problem with Hurricane PSA

For the past three days, I've had full size Hurricane PSA's running on many pages that I've had good ads on forever. Google doesn't list the url at the bottom so I can't block these ads and they aren't showing up in the Google preview tool. I've contributed plenty of money to Hurricane funds, but I don't want to do it this way. Any ideas how to block this particular ad?

Sorry... I forgot to mention that I did block redcross.org on the filter list last night, but that apparently didn't do the trick.

I got the same problem. Because no one else posted about it, I assume i was the only one.

For about three days about half of the time the ads on my webpages are the big, wide redcross and hurricane ads.

I didn't change anything on that webpages and had good ads before.

I noticed this happening on my site too, I would never donate to the RC, only local charities or the SA and as such would never knowingly advertise for the RC. It's annoying that they are forcing these to appear.

Looking over things it seems the RedCross ads pay out resonably well.

AdSense is only running the Red Cross hurricane PSAs right now, so you won't see the usual variety in PSAs as you usually do. I believe this started the Friday following the hurricane. I don't believe you can stop PSAs from showing by using the filter, you need to use the alternate ad URL, color or collapse script if you don't want to show those particular PSAs.

Just been looking at whose ads are on my site today. A scraper trying to buy my traffic is showing the lovely, big Red Cross PSA instead of any paying ads. I'm still serving the good payers:) Obviously I've now added them to the block list, but it did amuse me!

Why would you EVER give up your web space for free to non-paying PSA ads?

Install the AdSense alternate ads code and plug in affiliate programs, CPM ads, anything that pays as it's not worth letting them get your spots for free when other things will pay.

If you EVER see PSAs on your site, you didn't finish installing AdSense IMO.

Everything you need to know about alternate ads:
[google.com...]

If Google won't put up an ad that pays, maybe some other program will!

Maybe this thread might offer some help as well:

The problem I'm having is that the good paying ads are flipping back and forth with this full page "red cross" ad. I don't want to replace it yet with other advertising since it keeps bouncing all over my site. What I can't figure out is why it keeps showing up even though I've filtered redcross.org. Unless Google has set it up so it can't be filtered.

I don't you get the point -
Why are you letting them show PSAs in the first place?

Who do you recommend then?

It's not a replacement of AdSense, it's a replacement of PSA ads.

Read my post above and follow the links it will explain as you can make any PSA ad not display and show something like an afilliate ad, FastClick CPM ad, etc.

Incredibill

Thank you for banging us over the head with this. I finally get it! Up until this week PSA's had never been an issue, so I never took the time to look for something else.

Thanks!

I too am seeing a lot of this red cross stuff. And yes, I implemented the alternate ad so it doesn't show anymore.

However, this doesn't explain why all of us are suddenly seeing a lot more PSA from adsense.

Because a big portion of the United States is under siege, fleeing for their lives (or at least being told to do so). Advertisers pull back in times of crisis. The real world still exists, you know. Sometimes it pays to look away from the monitor and glance out the window.

I may be a bit out of step here, but I actually like the PSAs. They fit well with the nature of my visitors in general.

That said, I don't usually get over run with them, but if it happens from time to time, that's fine with me.

You might also want to check the following PSA troubleshooting site:

[google.com...]

There is probably a reason you are receiving PSAs. Also, make sure that you are opted in to both text and image ads. Sometimes if you're only opted in to image ads, there is insufficient inventory to fill the ad unit on your page and PSAs show instead.

Feel free to sticky mail me with your URL if you'd like me to take a closer look.

Cheers,
