Google Referral Program - when?

Can you share any news about that?

'twas back in Feb 2005 when Google announced the invitation-only, beta Google Referral Program. The program would pay for referred AdWords clients or AdSense publishers.

More than 6 months passed by now, will Google actually launch it anytime soon?

If you have been accepted to this program, do you have any experiences with it?

Thanks!

With the referral program you get paid $20 whenever someone you refer signs up for AdSense.

[google.com...]

The program is still invitation only, but you can put in an application to be considered. I signed up but have not heard back yet.

Current news suggest that Google might dump the Referral Program and choose other avenues for inviting new partners: Google now running "Advertise on this site" ads on your site [webmasterworld.com] - but I'm sure you have seen this thread :)

Also, do consider if it's worth while to get $20 and have a link to someone else's account.

The day he gets banned, you are under scrutiny for linking to bad guys..

Not for $20, thanks!

Bad idea. Search engines are already cluttered with "made for AdSense" pages; why aggravate the problem by encouraging "made for AdSense referrals" pages?

I am in it. It is still invitation only though.

You only get paid if your referred party earns the minimum level:
Advertisers qualify as completed referrals after they spend $20 with AdWords. Publishers qualify after they earn $75 in AdSense revenue.

Google can close the referred account before it reaches $75 - should the site be a "made for AdSense" one.

I have at least two plans with the Referral Program:

1) Revenue sharing on forums. I'd encourage forum folks to sign up for an AdSense account, then their AdSense ID-s could be inserted into their posts/topics - of course within AdSense TOS. I read if you ask for permission from Google, they tend to approve it.

2) I'd like to launch an affiliate review site for a niche with senior netizens, so, not really the tech-savvy folks. My bottom line advice would be that making money with various affiliate programs is possible, but requires hard work. In fact, AdSense is more rewarding. I'd be happy to offer it to the site visitors.

Radix, I meant that we'd see a flood of sites designed to recruit new AdSense publishers.

I suspect that is exactly why it is invite only
