hi there,
the google page impressions that i see seems to be different from the one i see in my awstats program. taking for example yesterday, i had 149 visitors but 1795 page views. however in my google stats i only had 300+ page impressions. am i missing something here?

thanks in advance for your help!

I am seeing about the same ratio.

They differ, but I don't know why. It seems that AWSTATS shows too many page impressions.

Bots, bots and more bot type things...!

The fewer real visitors you have the bigger the discrepancy between Awstats and Google.

Some of our less visited sites show as much as 70% bots whereas the more visited sites can be down to 20-25% of bot visits.

A friend's site which was supposedly getting 4,000 page impressions per day with Webalyser averages 2,000 with Google. So long as your earnings are ok, no problem...

We use Mach5 Anayzer - a log file analyser, like AWSTATS. Adsense reports 10 to 15% more impressions than Mach5 Analyzer, which we attribute to caching. Your page views sound way out, therefore, and Adsense is probably reporting more accurately.

I'm not familiar with AWSTATS, but could you be looking at a "hits" figure rather than "page views"? Depending on the complexity of page, the figures you quote would make more sense as hit reporting rather than page view.

149 visitors but 1795 page views

My experience is

page views is equal to more or less unique visitors x 2.

ie., on an average each visitor views 2 pages. but this stats is way up.

by this G is right

could be bots.

Ours are times four of adsense PI's after Robots exclusion. I see Mediabot hitting each page 3 times.. when someone loads a page :\.

With about 50.000 adsense PI's a day there is some background noise... With Googlebot and Yahho etc .. we have up to 200.000 stats [no adsense] PIs a day ..

i was lookin through my awstats again and it seems that after bots could be a factor. but will bots actually result in such a huge discrepancy?

There are many reasons you might see a discrepancy between your AdSense reporting statistics and the stats you detect using a third party software application.
