I am a newbie to the Adsense world. I want to create a site and generate some income for my family. Can anyone please give me some pointers on how to get started(such as what websites to make)? Thanks.

How long does it usually take(on average) before I can see some decent profit?

hard to say and it depends on the topic and your goals (the effort and time your willing to put into a site).

most imporant factor is getting search engines to index your site (after content is added) u might want to submit the domain to a few search engines.

sometimes a little advertising helps if you want to speed things up.. some say u have to spend money to make money but that's not really true.

Well, this may or may not be encouraging.

My wife started a new site and submitted it in mid-July and just broke her first $100 total in AdSense today. July we mostly waited to get indexed, then MSN sent us traffic but it's only been a dollar or two per day most days but it adds up. She's actually made more with affiliate programs at this point.

If I can just get her lazy butt busy to get IBLs her site could easily eclipse my earnings based on what I'm seeing so far, has potential.

I see you're new to the adsense world. Just use adsense on your current sites, you don't have to make new sites specifically for adsense.

Apologies for the stupid question, but what's an IBL?

IBL - In Bound Link

In other words, sites pointing to YOUR site to make it seem like you have some authority and relevance to the search engines.

Aha, thanks. All I could think of was "Internet BlackList".
