I need some kind of plan! I spend way to much time on this subject. Plus, I'm always checking stats! Good Grief!
I am same like you rudy. Battling with myself if I should continue to job or full time on adsense. It gives a strange feeling when you get paid to do your job but take out some time to do our own which doesnt profit to company.
I'm coming in slightly late to this fast-moving thread, but working from home isn't always what it's cracked up to be, as there can be several problems.
The first is boundary management, which can be very difficult at home, unless you have good self-discipline. The most typical problem is managing the boundaries between personal and work behaviour, and thereby working long hours. In this instance, the boundary you are having difficulty with is between one type of work and another.
Another is the addictive nature of the reward you probably get from adsense, versus your day job. Intermittent reward is far more addictive than a regular income (which is why gambling has such an addiction problem).
Another factor is "environmental cues": things in the environment that unconsciously trigger you to behave in a certain way. Drug addicts, for example, often find it easy to give up drugs in a rehab centre, but when they return home all the environmental cues trigger their drug-taking again. So, combined with the addictive nature of Adsense reward, you may rapidly be creating an unconscious equation: working from home = working on adsense.
In the absence of strong self-discipline, the best thing you can do is to change your environment. Here are some ideas to help you change your mindset and manage the boundaries between home/work/adsense:
* put your office in an shed/outbuilding to make a physical separation between work and home (if this is impractical, go to a cafe to work, or hire a small office)
* use two computers: then access adsense only from your 'home' computer. When you want to check your adsense stats, go into the house/room. Don't have your work phone in the adsense room, nor check or do adsense development on your work computer. Keep the data files separate, ie one copy only, on the relevant computer.
* put on a suit when you start "proper" work. Change back to casual when you do adsense
* create a timetable, scheduling employed work vs adsense
If all else fails, move your office out of the house completely and go back to your employer's office to do real work. Do adsense at home.
* put your office in an shed/outbuilding to make a physical separation between work and home (if this is impractical, go to a cafe to work, or hire a small office)
Why?
The only question is:
Has he the chance thad AdSense earnings are in 2 years more than from his regular job.
When it's possible, do it!
I have an internet advertising agency and since I started AdSense June 2004, I do everything to increase AdSense income.
i think i need to organize my time. i'm definetly not making as much on adsense as i do for my day job. the day job pays the bills
First month of adsense June 2004, AdSense was a little bit additional money.
Now it's about 60% of my income.
