AdSense annoyances

Some valuable information before we begin: my sites are in Swedish.

1) I hardly earn anything. I only have legit clicks, and on a normal day, my biggest site has like ~1600-3500 impressions (see question 4), of which 0-35 are followed. For each, I get like $0.0000000001. It's making me pretty damn depressed. NOTE! This is the same thing for ads that are directly related to LOANS and FLIGHTS (I have two sites totally dedicated to that). Ie: one of the top categories in payoff (correct?).

2) Yesterday, one of my sites had two registered clicks, but $0 earnings... IF Google decided that these clicks were fake (I don't remember clicking my own ads, and even if I did, two ones would probably slip through anyway), why would it display them at all?

3) The AdSense stats are updated very seldom. Like once a day, it feels like to me. Why?

4) My Webalizer stats show a much higher page count than the Google AdSense impressions. What could be the possible cause of this, other than bots and non-JavaScript enabled browsers?

I wonder a lot more, but I can't think of anything more at this moment. Will maybe post more questions in this thread later...

1) How many people click on your ads? Maybe you need to optimize your AdSense ads a bit more to improve the CTR? Another reason may be because your site is in Swedish. Maybe there just aren't enough advertisers?
2) Could be delayed stats, each column doesn't get updated at the same time.
3) No idea, for me it updates every 15-30 minutes.
4) Maybe because Google doesn't have enough ad inventory. You can check this by using an alternate URL for PSAs.

"1) How many people click on your ads? Maybe you need to optimize your AdSense ads a bit more to improve the CTR?"

Let's focus on my biggest site. Latest month, it has had 85.607 impressions, 280 click and a CTR of 0,3%. It has brought in USD 17,20...

Does the payout vary depending on how many times the ad has been impressed before it's clicked? If so, is a lower or higher count good? Doesn't really make any sense to me...

"Another reason may be because your site is in Swedish. Maybe there just aren't enough advertisers?"

At least they seem to be darn cheap. I hate them.

"2) Could be delayed stats, each column doesn't get updated at the same time."

I see... that's pretty stupid of them.

"3) No idea, for me it updates every 15-30 minutes."

Maybe it does that for me too, only I'm impatient or something.

"4) Maybe because Google doesn't have enough ad inventory. You can check this by using an alternate URL for PSAs."

I didn't quite get this.

Hi KimmoA,

Maybe if you read the AdSense Ts&Cs and the FAQs (or even here at WW) you'd have some better idea:

a) Why you are not getting ads (eg unacceptable content, invalid combinations of ad units, cloaking or other blocking of MediaBot access, poor targetting, etc, etc).

b) Why you are getting only low-paid ads and/or how "smart pricing" works.

c) How long stats take to show, etc.

d) How to use alternate ad URLs to show ads from other parties where Google does not have inventory for your site.

I once had a customer (of my ISP), who, after we had spent many hours putting together instructions on how to set up his particular modem, phoned us to asked us how to do it.

I said: "Did you read the instructions we sent you?"

He said: "I couldn't be bothered to open them."

I said: "Then I can't be bothered to have you as a customer and subsidise you GBP10 per month."

Rgds

Damon

PS. You'll notice that I am a little too blunt for customer-service work. G will be glad that they haven't hired me for AdSense CSR! B^>

I have read the FAQs several times in English and Swedish... Not in a while, though.

However, I am not looking for their <snip> -- I'm looking for actual answers. :)

The best advice I can give to you at this time is not to give up.

You might want to look at other products to sell on your site that might appeal to your Swedish audience. Don't just rely on Google if it isn't working well. Check around at ClickBank and other products paying affiliate commissions.

The sites basically consist of affiliate links. These bring in next to nothing and very seldom.

I can't believe that I don't rank better with 100% validated Web sites, using all good practices, SEOed URLs/titles/headers, etc.

The key of the problem here is probably language.

I'm seriously about to go crazy. There is no logic behind this.

KimmoA .. I do fine with swedish and adsense.. seems odd that you get poor results in travel. are your sites ranking in the .com as well as the .se

or only appear in the "sidor på svenska" and "sidor från Sverige" serps

Um... they're both .info for various reasons, validating, has a language set at HTML level, but only have Swedish contents.
