PSAs everywhere?

Quick check-in on the PSA issue

The past few days, there have been more and more threads about people saying their sites are running PSAs instead of targeted. So I am wondering if there is a pattern going on here. Is it new sites vs old sites? Geo-targeting gone wild? Not enough ads?

Why don't we each contribute a little bit of information and see if there is a pattern emerging. Only contribute about your own site, please, rather than in general about "all sites" - you never know what those other sites might have done to result in PSAs ;) With luck, we might see something pop up that could explain it.

Here are some possibilities:

  • How long has your site been running AdSense?
  • Where are you located?
  • How many PSAs is your site showing?
  • Any PSAs on pages that were formely showing targeted?
  • PSAs on every page view? Or combination of PSA & targeted?
  • Any stats significantly higher/lower, or just the same?
  • Anything else you think could be relevant to this PSA issue?

For me, I have been running AdSense for month, am showing targeted ads, with only a few brand new pages running PSAs (but are changing to targeted after a very short time). I am viewing ads from Canada, and nothing else seems out of the ordinary that I can see.

How long has your site been running AdSense?
    5 weeks

    Where are you located?
    USA - Illinois

How many PSAs is your site showing?
4 on a sky scraper. 40% of my ads are now PSA

Any PSAs on pages that were formely showing targeted?
Yes. At one point all pages had targeted.

PSAs on every page view? Or combination of PSA & targeted?
Depends on the page. Usually each page will stay targeted or PSA and no show both

Any stats significantly higher/lower, or just the same?
Page views actually up or the same. Clicks WAY down.

Anything else you think could be relevant to this PSA issue? Not sure, they are somewhat targeted even on pages not in the google index. It is just weird that they swap from PSA to targeted. In the stats you can tell which days were serving PSA's. Please fix it google)c:

    UPDATE ::

A few hours after the canned response from google, I am now showing targeted ads again. I don't know what the deal was but I am happy that this has been resolved. I hope this is final.

Nothing but PSAs again. I guess I got too excited too quick. I have no clue what just happened, but I was seeing nothing but targeted ads for about 30 minutes.

As of right now,I'm seeing 100% PSAs myself. I've never seen more than the odd one here or there previously.

    Taking the Jenstar quiz:
    Running Adsense about 7 weeks
    in the US
    PSAs on every page
    was targeted on every page
every page view, near as I can tell
    nothing unusual in the stats
nothing notable except that today started with a low EPC and I noted earlier today a huge jump (as if someone clicked an ad with a value several times in excess of my average).

I'm composing the mail to G right now.

Edit: all's well once agin. (/me fingers the juju beads)
