Anyone notice this article and the site referenced in the article. (I hope you allow the URL: [emediawire.com...] )

Publishers pledging to donate their earnings to the Katrina disaster and signing up on the website. Conformance is voluntary.

I think everyone of the publishers should get a warning email from Google saying 'knock it off'.

I have already given a large sum to the redcross and don't want my advertising funds used in such a obviously way that has no controls.

Who's money is it anyway?

What do you think?

i think its good that they want to help.. but what bothers me is that their websites are listed.. people who arent familiar with the TOS will go on that website on sept 12 and start clicking away thinking they are helping.. in return it will just cause a lot of click fraud.

If they listed the sites then it's simple idiocy - idiocy or fraud. :(

No way! That seems strange to me.

They want you to pledge by filling out a form, with the options of having your name and website URL plastered on a page, then they send you someplace else to make the donation? Ridiculous!

How many publishers want everybody in the world to know they are publishers?

What a way to have a perfect backlink with great anchor text though. THis is obviously what most of them are doing.

Ya, I guess the only thing that really bothers me is that the websites are listed.

Its a pretty slimy way to get visitors to your adsense ads based on sympathy. Like the 'save the puppies' coin jar on my desk - gets them everytime.

Wow- won't it be interesting to see how many accounts get suspended over that program.
What say you Adsense Advisor?

The site is soliciting fixed amount pledges, not everything a publisher makes in one day or whatever. The pledge amounts are also not even posted, so IMO there's no particular solicitation to click anyone's ads and it's no big deal.

Having said that, I don't really see any reason for this site to exist. If I were a cynical man I'd suspect that [deleted] -- ah, who cares. Any side benefits to the owner will be slight.

G is investigating it.

Right, not a big deal but since I'm wearing my shiney Adsense police badge tonight I thought I'd mention it.

Ahhh Sailor, just reading that tugged on the strings of my heart.
