This is from the "Google AdSense Program Policies"

Publishers may not label the ads with text other than "sponsored links" or "advertisements." This includes any text directly above our ads that could be confused with, or attempt to be associated with Google ads.

So the way i understand is we can use "sponsored links" or "advertisements." above the Adsense code?

Yes, you can. Personally, I don't put anything. The ads already are labeled "Ads by Google"--why give my visitors something else to read?

I've had a lot more luck using "Sponsored Links" above my AdLinks block than not using it. I'm not sure why, other than it's a clear indication that you're not trying to dupe the reader into an ad click, and they click on the link knowing that it's an ad link so they're more likely to click on one of the ads displayed as a result.
