What do you think about Directories/Trade Portals?

Will they make a good money from AdSense?

My website is a local bilingual Telephone Directory site with Forums, Free Classified Ads and an Amazon Affiliate Store. It's been online since August 2003 but I changed it to a Directory Site since January this year (a while after I joined AdSense). I basically just dump everything I could type from our city phone directory and let users upgrade it (they can add lengthy description about their product/services and upload pictures related to their business but only in one page).

I got less than 300 uniques/day, about 1000 pageviews/day, a search for site:mydomain.tld in Google returns 121,000 results, in Yahoo returns 26,900 results, in MSN returns 1,165 results and I can get $1.00 to $3.50 a day (my best day is a little above $4.00).

The question is can you tell based on the info I gave above whether this is good or bad? I know if I can double my traffic I probably can double the income and there are lots of ways to do this (AdWords the first that came to mind). Currently I spend $0.00 on advertising my site, I only have a handfull of link exchanges with some local sites, and a few signature links from several forums posts.

I am currently building an international b2b trade portal like the Chinese based one (can't post URL here, but I guess you know which site I am talking about). How do you think AdSense on this type of website will perform?

in which country are you located? if you have more international visitors, you could get a double digit eCPM
