Is this against the TOS in any way?
Only problem I can see is... if I post more than 3 times on a particular page... but if I did that, the ads wouldn't show, right? Oh, I can disable my sig if I'm making post #4.. (sorry, I'm thinking out loud here!)
One last problem I just thought of... what if my forum members see the ads (they are gonna notice I changed my sig) and talk about them? I know it's against the TOS to encourage people to click or draw attention to the ads; I fear people might do that by talking about the ads.
My forum members really like the site and I wouldn't put it past them to say "ooh, let's click the ads to support the site".... If they start talking about it, I suppose I can delete the thread?

There are better ways of integrating adsense in your forum [webmasterworld.com] that would cause much less headaches.
Just for the reasons you already mentioned, it doesn't sound like a good idea.
AdSense in a signature may perform lots better on a forum but it may give your visitors the idea that it's OK to put advertisement in their own sigs.
Zygoot, I won't allow others to put ads in, the forum has a no advertising policy now.
Then if the Admin is doing it, that should go over real well with your members.
At the forum sites I own and manage, links in sigs are allowed as long as they conform to the ethical standards of the site.
Ads are allowed, as it encourages people to post content!
The more they post, the more their link gets seen.
As well, it's my belief that nobody can be all things to everyone and sharing url's promotes the sharing of information (and traffic!).
But...your mileage may vary, as they say.
I think the idea is interesting and look forward to hearing of how it worked out for you.
The one person I know that did this was asked kindly to add a border, and background color to their ads.

....and the ads were spot on topic as well.
However, I do have the integrated ads that show under the first post and after X number after that.....edited via your admin panel.
A very easy mod and the best integration tool I've seen yet for forums.
For me, using "images only" shot up my earnings with impressions from the first day I set it up that way...but that's relative.
Still not earning diddly with the forum sites.
Haven't heard back from Google yet. I may play around and try to put it where my avatar is....
But I'm not certain how a "subscriber" would get a free ride.
Must be another switch?

So, I'll try it out and see how it goes. Might improve the pathetic CTR the forum used to have.
