I am thinking of putting rss content on my site, but does adsense read rss content?

Well RSS content is parsed into the actual content of the page in HTML. So I would certainly say yes. But how much and mow important may vary based on things like - do you show just link headers or do you include a description in text alone with a link etc. Adsense is going to try and give ads to the theme of the page, so if you run RSS for a topic differnt, then it may be ignored.

If the RSS you're publishing has Adsense ads, you may be in violation of the TOS, by having ads from 2 publishers on one page.
