This is consistent for the past 4 months.

I assume users are misatking sponsored results for search results.
I am not worried here, but sharing my experiences.

Some search clicks are just 1 cent and some are upto $1.

The other possibility is that users aren't finding what they searched for on your site, but are finding it in the ads--which of course are served up in response to the keywords in the ads.

That new feature that lets us see what visitors search for has told me that a significant number of searches on my site won't get a result, though almost all of the searches are within the general area of my site's subject.

That doesnot give the list of search strings. right?

The Top Queries thing tells you what they searched for. If they typed in "string" and hit search, then "string" would be one of the queries... :-)
