Hi there!

Is it legal to Create an Adsense Search Engine?
I created one. Is it really a policy of Google not to allow
these kind of technique? I feel it is OK because Adsense search engine style will be directed to those who search for a particular keyword. I'd like to know your opinion about this. Thanks!

I believe they changed the tos making search engines ok, you will need to block ads from showing if no results.

Theres also searchfeeddotcom for alternate

What I mean is I will search the ads of google adsense so it's kind a search engine for ads. All data are ads. So when you search for a particular keyword and thirty advertisers bids on that keywords then the search engine will diplay the thirty ads. Thanks for your reply.

I don't see how it would be illegal. However, if you plan to do it as a Google Publisher and attempt to get paid then you are probably out of luck.

When you say search engine? A search engine that searches the web for AdSense ads or a search engine that searches your site for AdSense ads.

You may be able to talk to Google about it as a program separate from Adsense, however.

I think that depends on how you fetch the content. Will you be using regular ad units or have you found a way to grab ads and output as customized links?

The first one is allowed however your website will still have to contain content. The second is obviously against the rules.

A search engine for ads... It's kind of brilliant in a way. Ads are one of the few remaining sources of UNindexed content online.

I don't see how you could ever get hold of more than a small fraction of ads in either the AdSense or AdWords database though, and of course it's completely incompatible with the AdSense program.

Except that he wants to show thirty ads which is more than any combination of three ad units.

Yup...I'd like to display even more than thirty.

I already asked G two days ago but still no response yet. I think this idea is in a win-win situation for publisher, advertiser & G.

For Publisher: Obviously there's a click after searching.
For Advertiser: The keyword is what they bid.
For G: Many clicks for targeted keywords.

Wouldn't that be the same as the Google search only eliminating the natural results from the results page? It seems to me that if Google wanted to allow something like that they would want to be the ones to create and control it. Let us know how they reply.

-----Google Response-----

Here G's reply:

Now here's my opinion:

<snip>

G aren't endorsing adsense search engine and
not encouraging the type of site I want to impose but they like it. What do you think? harharhar

This falls into a "made for adsense" category so it is not legal.

Does anyone here know what legal means?

Google is NOT THE legal entity!

Contravention is another thing within your jurisdiction, IF it applies...and whilst I'm at it...Google, nor American rules/laws, most probably do not apply in your country...oh...wow...really...yes:-))

Never believe hearsay...find out the facts for yourself.

I think this is a great idea.
I could have on my widget site, "Search for Widget products & services" and people would use it to search for Widget related ads....

... this would be great for advertisors AND publishers!

I recommend reading the 'Implementation and Operation of Ads and Search Results' section of the AdSense ToS ([google.com ]) before implementing some of the suggestions in this thread.

We ask that you do not pre-populate search results. Search queries should be generated naturally by your users. In fact, a new AdSense for search feature allows you to see the top 25 queries generated by your AdSense for search box, which is a feature many publishers requested to help with site optimization.

Also, as per the AdSense program policies ([google.com ])

We do not permit Google ads or search boxes accessing Google search services to be published on web pages that also contain what could be considered competing ads or services...If you have elected to receive Google search services, this would include other search services on the same site and non-Google query-targeted ads. We do allow affiliate or limited-text links.

Hope that clarifies our AdSense for search policies a bit!

ASA,
What about if, I am using Yahoo News search and displaying Adsense on it. Is this against TOS?
