We have a site that offer free information on companies we track. So for example if someone want sales lead intelligence on ABC Inc, we'll show 4 pages worth of data on this company ranging from contact info, demographics, contact names, etc.

Now from reading the info on Google AdSense, we will have ads related to the content of these company datacard. Instead, I want to show relevant ads for our visitors which include telemarketing, direct mail, sales lead, etc.

Can this be done?

Thanks

kalkawan -

AdSense targets ads based on the text-based content of your site. So, if you'd like to attract advertisements on topics such as telemarketing, direct mail, and sales leads, I recommend including more text-based content about these subjects on your site.

As we mention on the AdSense support pages, paragraphs and complete sentences about these topics will be especially useful to our crawlers in determining the content of your page.

I hope that helps,

Thanks Adviser but what about all the content relating to company record being looked up. wouldn't that interfere with what ads being shown. Here's an example, if you look up IBM's record on Hoovers, you'll notice their address, industry code, some contact titles. In this case, even if we add keywords such as telemarketing or direct mail, wouldn't Google get confused?

kalkawan -

AdSense takes into account overall content of your site, so it's possible that ads could be targeted to the specific company information appearing on the site if the majority of text discusses these companies.

Can you send me a sticky mail with your URL? I'll be happy to look at your site.

Thanks guys for your help, I sent an email to google regarding this and here's their reply:

"At this time, AdSense only targets ads based on overall site content, not keywords or categories."

"If you'd like to display ads related to specific topics on your website, we recommend including more text-based content about these topics, including complete sentences and paragraphs, to assist our crawlers in gathering information about your pages and determining relevant ads to display. Please note that it may take up to 1 or 2 weeks before any changes you make have an effect on your ad targeting."

I will do some work on the site and send you guys an example, I would appreciate your feedback, thanks.

Have you tried Section Targeting? You could have selected text discussing the value for a target audience, then wrap the start and end code around the selected text.

This sounds interesting, can you tell me more please? Do you have a link that discusses this further on Google AdSense's web site?

Thanks a lot.

I have one site which discusses adsense and its benefits, and all I get is ads for electric scooters. I suppose it is better than PSA's however!
