How do you know when your site is a CPM target?

Do you take it as a compliment as well?

Is it something in the adsense account that indicates this?

If I am being targetted by an advertiser I will be quite proud!

The only way I can tell right now is when I see a text ad that fills up the entire ad unit in big fonts that look like PSA. Image ads are not an accurate indicator for me because an image ad can be CPC or CPM. Unfortunately, the report presently does not provide a breakdown of our earnings for CPC and CPM.

The best way I know to see it is to watch, especially early in the day, for channels that have had no clicks but have had earnings. Small usually, but earnings nonetheless.

Earnings with no clicks is the best way. You can do it any time of day though, just watch how a particular channel updates. It seems that only certain pages were receiving the ads probably because their ecpm was below the level the advertisers were offering to be on the site. Once you see where they start to appear you will know where to look more often. I consider it a compliment. The ideal situation is to get advertisers in a bidding war for your pages.

Current (same day) stats aren't very reliable for showing if you are getting CPM ads because the various elements don't update at the same time.

It's common on my site to see 0 clicks and some earnings early in the day, but have clicks show up later while the earnings stay the same.

I think "day after" stats are about the only way you can tell. Then if you have 0 clicks and some earnings, it's probably safer to assume some CPM ads ran.

This is the thread that Adsense Advisor started with regards to CPM ads. This thread covers the question of how to detect CPM ads on your site

Well, I am finally starting to cee some CPM on my site, partly thanks to Alika, but I have to say I am disappointed with the earnings. It's only about .50 cents or so. Anyone else getting similar earnings? I thought with a min $2 cpm, it would be higher. I'm not complainig as I am pleased with everything overall these days ($65/day average past 2 weeks) but I guess I am just trying to understand the pricing model.

If you think CPM ads are causing you to lose money, send an email to them. In the first few days when my site was showing CPM ads, my metrics fell. I was experiencing the opposite of what G promised with regards to CPM ads.

G took a look at my site, and fixed a configuration problem on their end (e.g. instead of showing the best ad -- CPM to show if and only if it beat out the CPC adverts -- it continually showed CPM even if it is lower paying than CPC adverts). After that, things improved.

Drop G a note (even AdsenseAdvisor who helped me) and ask them to take a look at why you suspect CPM ads are not bringing you better payouts.
