Ads by Google vs. Ads by Goooogle

Clicking these sometimes gives URLs, sometimes not.,..

i have a new baby site that i'm trying to keep some types of ads off of using the competitive ad filter. about six weeks ago, i would click on the ads by google for any ad that i didn't like to get the URL to filter it out.

well, after a while, when i clicked on 'Ads by Gooogle' I didn't get the URLs. it was a different page. i thought they changed it system wide. i was told to use the preview tool for IE, which i did, but as you might know it doesn't always show all the ads. (not to mention recently it stopped working altogether on the site in question - showing no ads...)

anyway, i was on another site today and happened to click on the ads by Gooogle link and noticed that they had the URLs for all the ads showing. i went back to my site and tried it, but i still got no URLs. hmmm.

curious, i looked at the URL and started playing around with this:

exp=Ads+by+Goooooooogle

i changed it to this:

exp=Ads+by+Google

and got an entirely different 'page'

i haven't tried all the combinations of o's in the name, but it looks like depending on what the value of exp is determines which 'page' you're shown?

i mean, is it me just getting nutty with wanting to block some ads or is it really getting more and more difficult for me to track down the URLs for the ads?

i'll hopefully be getting more local money for ads soon, but i really want to keep adsense up for the backfill...

so has anyone noticed that before? that is, changing that variable and seeing another page? i need to find the one that will show me the URLs of all the ads again. ;)

thanks!

well, if i plug this in, i get the URLs:

Ads+by+Goooooooogle

sorry if this has been covered before. i've been busy of late and have just popped in here and a couple other places once or twice.

kpaul, are you clicking on your ads to see the URLs? That's not allowed.

spacey - neither actually. i'm right clicking the 'ads by gooooogle' text and opening in a new tab. some of them show urls some of them don't. maybe i shouldn't say anything? delete the thread?

I think he's clicking on the

"Ads by Google"
or
"Ads by Goooooooogle"

and getting different pages depending on which it is. On the Google he gets the page that shows the ad urls and on the Gooooogle he gets a different page.

At least that's how I understood his post.

Being able to click on the "Ads by Google" identifier text and go directly to a page that shows the ad destinsation urls is a quick way to grab the url if you want to add it to your blocked list.

[added]Kpaul beat me to it. [/added]

ken_b - yes, that's kinda what i was trying to say. the thing is, though, i *think* that if you use it 'too much' (or X number of times?) it changes to a version w/out listing the URL?

or maybe it's just me?
