How do you know if you’re running out of advertisers?

Anybody else not particularly care for how Google is analyzing website to see what the best number of ads displayed is?

I know it's meant for mutual benefit, but...

In the old way, if advertiser accounts were slowly running out of funds for the day, then Google would pull their ads. If your AdSense banner that should show 4 ads now shows 3, then you knew that you were running out of advertisers for the day. If your site was only showing 1, then you knew soon the alternate ads would start showing.

I'm trying to advertise my website, and I worry about there not being enough advertisers to cover my increase of traffic.

The only tool I use to have was to see how many ads were being shown. That's gone now.

Now, this "optimizer" thing has me freaking out each time I see only 1 ad being shown.

Remember that CPM ads only show 1 advertiser per ad block. Showing only 1 advertiser may mean that your site was targeted by a CPM advertiser for their campaign - not necessarily that there is a shortage of advertisers in your niche.

Jeremy-H -

These ads could also be expanded text ads ( see [google.com...] for more information).

Most likely, this doesn't mean there is a shortage of ads targeted to the content of your site. Instead, the AdSense algorithm has determined that displaying a single ad represents the highest possible revenue potential for your site.

If the advertiser reaches his/her daily budget and the ad is removed, a different ad or ads should appear in its place, not your alternate ad URL.

Thank you for your response ASA.

Does anybody know of a safe test I could use to determine either way if this was an expanded ad or not?
