Experiences with news-sites

Good results ..?

Anyone here who started a news-site? (whatever topic) Did je get high CTR and many SE visitors?

Just curious, because I want to start one by myself.

I have a Internation news site but and I easily manage to get vistors on it without much efforts but IT never get goods ads on it.so nobody clicks on these ads ,so low CTR and low money.all ads are usually useless to my vistors.

I am just thinking of removing adsense from it and try some other network...

Are your ads relevant with the content? Have you ever tried optimizing them?

Yep, a good news site will gaher links on its own, get high in SERPs and depending on the type of stories, can get high CTR and CPM.

News sites as far as I know don't get very high CPMs like some niche sites - but normally, news sites can grow forever.

For me, ads optimization means:

- Technically, you should choose good ad format, color and border that go well with your site. Then they should be placed in good position (please take a look at the heat map provided by Google themself).

- To have better ads, you should change the structure of your pages to help Adsense bot better index them. Then the ads will be more relevant.

My news site gets optimized ads. I like the fact that it allows me to get more diverse keywords than I would normally get from my other content sites. CPM is about 25% lower than my main site, as well as CTR (eCPM around $25-$50). Just make sure that you have RSS feeds running as well as indexed by Google News.
