Hi Guys, this is my first post in this forum...

I often hear this.."it's only a matter of time" thing until you get decent traffic and making $100/day from adsense..

Well, I just started my content based website back in late April this year (so it's about 4 months old) and am currently have around 150 uniques/day and 500 page views/day with $8/day adsense earning.

I'd just like to compare my stats to those with big stats and earning now and had been in my shoe before..

Am I on the right track?.. If I am, then how long til I can a significant increase in traffic (which hopefully lead to my increase in adsense)?

Cheers,

Paul

I'm afraid that nobody here can answer this question, Ximagi. Perhaps someone like Nostradamus (the prophet) could...

Am I on the right track?..

You are absolutely on the right track. In fact for a 4 month old site (if you're relying on search alone), those numbers aren't bad at all.

Just over a year ago, I set up a (very) content-rich site.

Suddenly stronger, family-related priorities took away all of my time.

So I had to leave the site sitting for over 10 months..

Now, I find myself with a PR5 site with abt. 400.000 pageviews /month. I am only averaging $15 per day on it, though, as it's a poor niche..

So, somehow it is possible, yes!

Frox stumbled upon a point that most newbies don't take enough time to figure out before they start writing their content -- "The Niche".

You can write as much content as you want but what you really need to consider is the niche you're writing about. Do the Ads pay well? Are you getting a lot of $0.03-$0.10 clicks? Is your content targeted at the right keywords?

If you do have a decent niche and the ads are paying out well, then just give it some time. You'll be suprised at how the traffic will grow over time. You should be playing with your ad positions/sizes/colors now that you have some decent traffic and optimize! Good luck!

Hi there--completely new here and to Adsense. What do you mean by a decent niche, if I may ask that?

I just added Adsense to my site, which displays my personal artwork, a few days ago, thinking it would be great if it just ended up paying for my hosting expenses. Then I discovered this forum, and quickly realized the potential for much more, and am becoming increasingly intrigued by this concept.

It makes you feel any better - I get 1,000 unique visitors a day on one site, 10,000+ pageviews, and I only turn $3.50 on average per day.

Why? The majority of the visitors are forum users, and my content pages don't get hit enough yet (they are new).

Sounds like you're doing okay to me.

[google.com...]

a niche is the theme of your site - a decent niche is one that will bring you good traffic and hopefully one that will pay well for your ad clicks.

Thanks Prolific. I wasn't very specific--I do know what a niche is, just trying to get some idea of what kinds of themes/subjects would be considered good niches for this purpose. Really popular subjects/searched-for keywords, obviously. (Guess I answered my own question.)

8$ for 150 unique visitors isn't bad at all.
I wish I had that income.

I only make aproximately 1$ on each 150 unique vistors.

Just to add some numbers to this discussion.. my goal each day is to get more than 10cents a pageview. It used to be easy but lately more difficult.

10 cents a pageview! You have a high paying niche.

<---- kicks himself for being in love with creating low paying websites.... it's all I know damnit!

Why couldn't I have been interested in insurance or something lucrative... my average EPC is very low.

500 page views and $8 a day? That's a CPM of $16 and that's great.

Just keep building traffic -- and working on content that makes your site more attractive for those 150 visitors to average more than 3 pages.
