Zero clicks.....

I am new to blogging and now Google Adsense. So far I have had zero clicks. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I am open to opinions on what I could do to generate interest.

Also, from reading the adsense "rules" I can put up to 3 on a page. I am trying to add another "wide skyscraper" at the bottom of my sidebar and I can see it when I do a "preview" in blogger but when I publish it, I see nothing down there. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? You may want to check out my page source to see my coding. (sorry I am new to html as well!)

Right now it looks too much like an ad. Make it look like your blog content (i.e. blend it in) and people will be more apt to click.

Second thing to do is edit your post and remove your URL - strictly forbidden in this forum.

Now that is out of the way my first question is how many visitors do you have each day? This could have a bearing on why you are not getting clicks.

You need lots of visitors to start the ball rolling.

Sorry, I am new to this. I have removed my url from my post. I included it not to "attract" traffic to my site but rather for assistance and opinions in proper coding of my ads within my blog.

As to how much traffic I have, I will have to say about 25 users a day. This is a tiny site. I am just getting started.

Again, sorry. Any assistance any of you "pros" could pass my way would be greatly appreciated.

Your results can run anywhere from .05% CTR to 50% or beyond.

Make sure if your friends and family are visiting your site that you instruct them on penalty of death (or worse) not to start clicking your ads. This will get you thrown out of AdSense before you even get started.

With just 25 visitors per day it's quite conceivable that you wouldn't see any click throughs yet.

The best thing to do is what we all had to do here. Read the information here and on the AdSense website.

There are lots of good threads where members offer their success stories.

Didn't see your URL before it was snipped, but if your blog is hosted on Blogspot much of your traffic will come from those using the navbar at the top of the page. These people usually stay just long enough to register a hit, and then are gone. Once you get visitors looking for your content, the clicks should come.

Make sure to submit your blog to the blog search engines (there's no particular engine or directory that has leaped to the forefront, so submit to every one you can find). Categorize your posts, or include descriptive tags for sites like Technorati to find (see their website for details). Post meaningful comments to the blogs of others to encourage cross-linking and traffic.

You will also want to make sure that relevant ads are appearing. If you blog on a wide range of topics, you're more likely to get non-relevant ads on your main page. I mentioned a Jewish wedding in one post on my niche blog, and had ads for over-40 singles websites for a week. Use the Competitive Ad Filter, but use it judiciously.

Take the AdSense heat map to heart, and blend the ads in with your content. You'll see from the heat map that a skyscraper at the bottom of your sidebar might not be the best way to go. Try incorporating ads into your post headers and/or footers, or float your content around the ads. Experiment with different ad layouts for your main page, archive pages, and individual post pages, and be sure to assign channels to each one.

Google states that if you go to a site and do not stay, then that click may not count. On other hand if you're trying to copy and paste a URL on one of your own ads, it may activate a click rom, but the click may show up to you but the revenue will be zero.
