I'm just wondering this. I would love to eventually fit that criteria so that I can get rid of the "ads by google" link as well...

It goes beyond impressions. There are some folks here who posted that they have exceeded the minimum traffic requirement yet G still won't accept them as a premium publisher. I think G is looking for the strength of the brand name, too, among other factors.

Stated prominently on the Google Business Solutions page:

"If your site receives more than 20 million page views a month, our sales team can help customize the AdSense program for you."

"Can," not "will."

So EFV, the 20 million page views is a minimum qualification, in your experience? Presumably all premium publishers are carefully reviewed by staff.

Check out this thread here where Markus said that he gets 5 million A DAY yet he is not in the premium program - yet he's been given perks similar to premium publisher

So it is definitely not just traffic.

Hello –

Although I don’t work with AdSense premium publishers, I can confirm that if your site receives 5 million search queries or 20 million content page views per month, it may qualify for premium services. If it meets these criteria, you can fill out an application form on the AdSense website.

If you operate a large site but don’t qualify for premium services, I’d just like to remind you that you can always email adsense-support@google.com and request optimization services, which will also help you maximize your revenue potential. :)

My goal is to become a premium publisher one day.

I'll start promoting my website on TV soon.
