I have been tracking traffic / conversion from the Google Search & Content network
Google Content converted: 24.4%
Google Search converted: 15.9%
I have been watching the Content sites driving traffic (tracking the url refers) - some are are "good design" some are "bad unique" - defined by:
"good design" = unique content
"bad design" = directory type site
The "bad design" directory type sites were NOT lowering the conversion rate . . .
I will continue to track this over time and across multiple sites and track.
For the most extrem, I have an interior designer as one of my internet promotion clients.
Most people visiting his site are only interested in the pictures or to collect ideas over interior design.
He is perfectly happy when 1 from 20.000 search engine visitors converts to a new customer for him.
Maybe 1 from 100.000 visitors brings him a big company where he gets several big projects.
Howiejs addressed both of those questions in a right manner.
While I knew the content pays off, I was not so glad to see "bad" sites on a positive side too.
It would be great to hear from others.
