Strange adsense ads.

I've seen some sites with adsense ads without the description text (just the titles). Like this example:

widgets1
widgets2
widgets3
widgets4

And this looks like a menu instead of an ad.
I've seen this many times. Isn't it supposed to be against the TOS?

Maybe they are AdLinks?

oh, ok, I get it know. I tought the tipical ad with a description below was the only format.
Sorry about the silly question then.

As Ossifer mentioned, it sounds like you are currently running a link unit on your site rather than an ad unit. You can see examples of both on:

[google.com ]

In addition to one link unit, you’re welcome to place up to three regular ad units on each of your pages. For more information about link units, I recommend the following page:

Sometimes an AdLinks style block shows up IN PLACE of the left-most AdSense ad in a regular 768 x 60 horizontal block. Threw me for a loop the first time I saw it!

ASA -- if you haven't seen it, it is kind of cool. I'd like to enable it permanently, but it must be just a random test of sorts.
